Renfrewshire Wellbeing Service

Welcome to the Renfrewshire Wellbeing Service

The Renfrewshire Wellbeing Service brings together support for children, young people and families across our communities and schools, offering the right help at the right time. By combining early intervention with more targeted wellbeing support, the service ensures that families can access guidance, understanding and practical help as soon as they need it. Whether challenges are emerging at home, within the community or in school, our teams work together to provide a joined‑up, compassionate response that strengthens wellbeing and helps children and young people to thrive.

The Community Wellbeing Team is often the first point of support for families across Renfrewshire, offering Tier 1 early intervention for any emerging concerns around wellbeing, family life or day‑to‑day challenges. Their role is to step in early—before worries grow—and provide calm, practical and relationship‑based support that helps families feel more confident, connected and in control.

The team works with parents, carers and children in their own communities, offering a friendly and approachable service that makes it easier for families to talk about what’s happening and explore what kind of support might be most helpful. This may include emotional support, help to understand a child’s behaviour, guidance around routines or communication, or simply a space to talk things through with someone who listens without judgement.

Because they work at an early stage, the Community Wellbeing Team can help families recognise their strengths, build resilience and access the right supports before difficulties become more complex. When needed, they can link families with other services—such as health supports, financial advice, parenting resources or community organisations—ensuring that help is coordinated and easy to navigate.

Families can reach the team through the Request for Assistance process, which allows the service to respond quickly and match each request to the most suitable level of support. As part of the wider Renfrewshire Wellbeing Service, the Community Wellbeing Team works closely alongside the Schools Wellbeing Team, ensuring support remains consistent whether concerns arise at home, at school or within the wider community.

The Schools Wellbeing Team supports children and young people across Renfrewshire’s schools by helping them manage wellbeing challenges that may be affecting their learning, confidence or engagement in the classroom. As part of the wider Renfrewshire Wellbeing Service, they provide Tier 2 support — offering more targeted and structured help when situations become more difficult to manage.

Working closely with school staff, the team identifies pupils who may benefit from additional help and provides support either individually or in small groups, depending on what best suits the child’s needs. Their work focuses on understanding the underlying factors affecting wellbeing and helping pupils develop strategies that allow them to feel calmer, more secure and better able to learn.

Where appropriate, Families are involved from the very beginning. After a referral, the team arranges an initial visit to explore what’s happening at home and in school, ensuring support is tailored and meaningful. They continue to check in and review progress so families, pupils and staff all stay informed and connected as things move forward.

The team also plays an important role during key transitions—such as moving from nursery to primary, primary to secondary, or from secondary into further education or employment. These changes can feel overwhelming, and the Schools Wellbeing Team works alongside school staff to help pupils build confidence, manage worries and adjust positively to new environments.

To offer the strongest support possible, the team collaborates with a range of partners including families, school staff, health and counselling services, Social Work and other local organisations. This joined‑up approach ensures that children and young people are surrounded by consistent support that helps them feel safe, understood and ready to take their next steps.

If you feel you and your family could benefit from the School Wellbeing Service please speak to your child’s school.

Both teams also contribute to the delivery of supportive programmes—including NVR (Non‑Violent Resistance) and LIAM—which help families strengthen relationships, manage challenges and build skills that support long‑term wellbeing.

The Renfrewshire Wellbeing Service also works closely with a number of third‑sector organisations to strengthen the support available to families in the community. Through partnerships with groups such as Youth Inspired, Home Start, Early Years Scotland, Klas Care, Active Communities, Pachedu, Impact Arts and Bricklane Music Academy, the service can offer a wider range of activities, practical help and specialist support. These collaborations ensure families are connected with community‑based services that understand local needs and can offer timely, accessible assistance.
